Reduce harmful effects

CEREAL farmers and advisers need to do more to reduce the harmful effects of herbicides on the environment, while providing adequate protection for crops, according to a new leaflet from the governments Pesticides Forum.

It calls for more weed mapping to ensure sprays are used only where problems exist, integrating and varying the range of mechanical, cultural and chemical techniques to optimise weed control and maintaining equipment and storing chemicals responsibly to prevent leaks in the farmyard.
