Return census forms, says MAFF

By FWi staff

MAFF has issued a reminder to farmers and growers to return their completed June census forms if they havent already done so.

The ministry says it is important that census forms are returned, as it is not currently possible to collect all the required information from IACS or other MAFF databases.

It stresses that the June Agricultural and Horticultural Census 2000 is important for the farming industry.

The census has the backing of the National Farmers Union, the Country Landowners Association, the Home-Grown Cereals Authority, the Meat and Livestock Commission and the Tenant Farmers Association.

All these organisation use published June census data in their work, says MAFF.

The ministry says the census database is used to contact farmers in emergencies and to provide them with important or beneficial information

It says census information is treated in the strictest confidence and will not be passed to the Inland Revenue without the written consent of the farmer.

Census information is not used to check information provided for IACS claims.

Farmers or growers who have not received a census form, and did not receive one in February should

  • Telephone MAFF on 0800 1695509, or
