It took nine hours of selling to disperse the biggest herd of dairy cows to come on to the market this year when 552 head were offered for the Rowe family at Launceston, Cornwall.

Buyers from as far north as Cumbria were in action with all classes of stock from this NMR recorded herd meeting a fast trade.

More than 35 head made over £1000 with a top bid of 1600gns from Mr James of Holsworthy, Devon, for a Genus Pineridge second calver due with her third this month.

Averages: Milking cows and heifers £766; in-calf heifers £728; bulling heifers £493; yearling heifers £330 and heifer calves £297 (Kivells, in conjunction with KVN Stockdale).
