Roadshow warns of animal diseases

By FWi staff

A ROADSHOW is travelling the country raising awareness among farmers and GPs of diseases which can pass from domestic and wild animals to humans.

Many of these zoonoses are difficult to identify because they produce symptoms similar to flu.

The zoonoses week campaign run by the Women Farmers Union will include giving farmers a medical card of the diseases and their symptoms.

Organisers hope the card will also be useful for raising awareness among locum GPs from urban areas who may not be familiar with zoonoses.

The roadshow starts in Perth on Monday (05 February) before moving to Kelso, Stafford, Exeter and ends up in Bodmin.
