ROBERT WISEMAN Dairies have reported a 12% rise in profits at the half-year to £9 million, helped by a £1m fall in the depreciation charge.
Turnover was up from £118.5m to £140m.
The group has also announced that it has won planning permission for a new £30m dairy near Birmingham, which will increase the companys push south.
But analysts are concerned the overcapacity in the industry will be exacerbated by the plant.
The company predicts, however, that the downward spiral in raw milk prices would follow bulk cream returns, which bottomed out recently.
