Sainsbury sells off Hazel Manor part of HF herd

BUYERS gathered high on the Mendip Hills last week for the dispersal of the Hazel Manor portion of the Lyegrove herd of Holstein Friesians offered for Messrs R P Sainsbury and Sons who have sold the farm.

Two cows made 880gns with eight head selling at over 800gns. Spring-calvers reached 520gns, served heifers 470gns and bulling heifers 420gns.

AVERAGES: 50 in-milk cows £563; 14 in-calf cows £644; 14 calved heifers £653; 21 served heifers £473 and 15 bulling heifers £380. (Greenslade Taylor Hunt)n
