SCATS and West Country to merge

By FWI staff

SCATS Grain is expanding its grain marketing business into the west of England by merging with West Country Grain, it has been announced.

Effective from 1 July, the move will bring significant benefits to members of the western-based co-op, says Tim Pollock, SCATS managing director.

“It will also broaden SCATS Grains market presence, improving its ability to service national grain-processing customers across all areas of the country.”

SCATS Grain is the largest farmer-owned grain marketing and merchanting business in the UK, handling more than two million tonnes a year.

It operates throughout the south, Midlands and East Anglia.

West Country Grain covers Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, marketing over 100,000 tonnes of grain a year.
