Spanish beef market collapses

SPANISH beef prices have fallen 6% in the past week, and have declined 25% since the country detected its first BSE cases in November, reports the Financial Times.
Ministry figures showed that beef was sold at an average of Pta366/kg (2.2/kg) in the week to 28 January.
Spain has confirmed 12 cases of BSE. Beef consumption fell 34% between October and December.
