AN ARABLE and stock farm near Totnes, Devon, is for sale by informal tender as a whole or in nine lots.
Hood Barton is guided at £1.25m for the whole and includes 470 acres of mainly grade 3 land of which 279 acres are eligible for arable area aid.
Current cropping ranges from cereals to root crops and potatoes have been grown previously. Stock enterprises have included a closed herd of South Devon beef cattle and a flock of 400 ewes.
The farm has two ranges of farm buildings including some general purpose forage and livestock housing.
In lots, the seven-bedroom farmhouse and nearly three acres are offered separately and two cottages are split up. The land is divided into blocks ranging from 181 acres of arable land, permanent pasture and woodland to about 40 acres of woodland, riverbank and a 24-acre field currently rented by NIAB for herbage seed trials.
About 20 acres of the farm are woodland and provide the basis for a shoot which recently has included six days a season.
The tender date is 2 June 2000 and the joint selling agents are Strutt & Parker and Luscombe Maye Hands Hughes.
