Stock up on feed early
ORDERING feed well ahead is essential to ensure supply without extra expense over the extended Christmas and New Year holiday.
Feed adviser Luppo Diepenbroek of south-west co-operative Mole Valley Farmers warns that arranging transport will make feed deliveries difficult until the first week of January.
Its mills, like most others, will only open for two days between the two holidays and with few lorries available fitting in deliveries not already booked will be difficult.
"Producers ordering early are assured of good service. But those ordering now may have to accept part loads or buy feed in bags which will be more expensive," he says. *
