T-bone fiesta…

MORE than a thousand shoppers defied the governments beef-on-the-bone ban to dine on T-bone steaks and ribs of beef at a retail centre in Cornwall.

Customers queued at the Trago Mills store restaurant in Liskeard to buy the banned produce. Devon NFU leader Richard Haddock proclaimed the weekend sale a great success with more than 1000 T-bone steaks and countless ribs of beef sold.

"The message were getting from people is how stupid and ridiculous they feel this ban is. They were asking us why it was ever imposed and why it has not been lifted."

Trading standards officials are believed to have bought examples of the banned meat for analysis, though at the time of going to press no further action had been taken.
