Tasty farmers promote red tractor

TASTY farmers brought a slice of the countryside to town on Monday (16 October) when they arrived in London to persuade shoppers on to buying British.
Five “beefcakes” and one fresh-faced girl hit a West End supermarket this morning to kick off their nationwide tour promoting the little red tractor logo.
The group, winners of a National Farmers Union competition, hope to attract the public to the British Farm Standard mark.
The mark denotes high environmental, food-hygiene and animal-welfare standards and is found on primary farm produce in all major retailers
After parading in Trafalgar Square, the tasty farmers met shoppers at Tesco Metro, Covent Garden, telling them: “For food you can trust, follow the little red tractor.”
This marks the start of a national advertising campaign for the little red tractor, with more than 350 billboard posters springing up across the country.
These are backed with a series of national, regional and magazine adverts.
To coincide with this, the team will take a 40ft long replica of the adverts in a tour of supermarkets around the country.
NFU public relations manager Simon Rayner said: “Our farmers served up a tasty dish to shoppers in London and were a big hit.”
