Terror bill may cover GM activists
WIDE powers allowing the police to arrest environmental activists are included in a bill published yesterday (Thursday) by the government.
The proposed legislation lays down a new definition of terrorism which will catch a broad range of groups and individuals, including those attempting to destroy genetically modified (GM) crops.
Jack Straw, the home secretary, said it would be for the courts to decide if the new bill was applied to environmental activists.
