Texels sparkle at Carlisle meeting
TEXEL ram lambs enjoyed a sparkling trade at the two-day fixture at Carlisle for the Solway and Tyne Breeders Club.
The event saw bidding spiral to 6200gns amid a string of four figure transactions.
Breeder J D Houghton, Bury, Lancs made the top price with a ram lamb from his Tophill flock sired by Baltier Aerostar and out of a ewe by Turin Wellington. Buyers were J and * Clark, Lanark.
The champion, the Turin Cain-sired Baltier Douglas from R and E Forsyth, Newton Stewart, made 5500gns to C Scott, Jedburgh.
