Theres a place for biodiversity

BIODIVERSITY can be compatible with British agriculture as the farming industry faces an increasingly competitive future in world food markets, according to NFU deputy president Ben Gill.

Speaking at the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group international conference in Birmingham on Tuesday, Mr Gill argued intensive farming was not necessarily bad for biodiversity. New technology and the use of genetic modification could help improve farmings performance.n
