Third rise for Express milk price

By FWi staff

EXPRESS Dairies has increased its ex-farm milk price for the third time this autumn and is now paying farmers 2ppl more for milk backdated to 1 October.

The company improved its original 1p offer to 1.5ppl almost two weeks ago. The latest move matches a rise announced by Dairy Crest last week.

The improvement comes from the so-called “middle ground” market, which includes shops, forecourts and catering establishments.

Due to the large number of contracts involved, setting prices took much longer than in the supermarket and doorstep sectors, said an Express spokeswoman.
