Triangular track cuts power loss

BILLESDON-based Agritrac used LAMMA 2001 to launch a simpler and lower cost version of its rear-axle triangular track option.

Designed to fit all makes of tractors and combines, the 2001 version uses a large diameter drive wheel connected directly to the halfshaft – rather than a step-up gearbox – to transmit power to the 16in or 32in wide tracks.

This arrangement reduces power loss and allows for overall lighter track units which now weigh 350kg rather than 450kg.

For greater strength the tracks turn within larger diameter roller axles and are made from polyurethane instead of rubber. Price for a pair of 2001 tracks is £18,000 – £2000 less than the previous version.

Agritracs improved triangular track is driven directly from a wheel connected to the tractor half-shafts to reduce power loss.
