US clash over GM food safety
P>US environmentalists, scientists, consumers and regulators have clashed over the safety of genetically modified (GM) foods and crops as well as the regulatory framework.
The argument emerged at the first of three public hearings organised by the US Food and Drug Administration to debate GM crops.
Pro-GM scientists found themselves at loggerheads with environmentalists.
A representative from Greenpeace cited a number of modified products on which he claimed some of the testing had been flawed or inadequate.
