Vandals attack two more GM trials
By FWi staff
VANDALS have attacked two field-scale trials of genetically modified crops.
In one incident, a trial crop of GM oilseed rape was torn up and flattened at Wold End Farm, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire over the weekend.
Police said about 75% of the 2.5hectare (six-acre) crop one of 12 grown for the company Aventis was destroyed in the attack.
The other incident in Scotland was less severe. It saw a GM crop of oil seed rape targeted for the second time in 48 hours.
About half an acre of the crop was destroyed at New Craig Farm, near Daviot, South Aberdeenshire.
