vCJD toll worst since outbreak
By FWi staff
NINETEEN people have died from the human form of BSE in Britain this year, reports The Guardian.
This makes it the worst year for the incurable vCJD disease since the start of the outbreak in May 1995.
Four people died of the disease in August, and another eight are suspected of having the disease, widely linked to eating BSE-infected beef.
