Vets told to detail fees
The ROYAL College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has told its members to give clients better information about the fees they charge.
The warning has come in response to complaints of overcharging. The college denies that overcharging is rife but admits that 5% of customers paid too much.
Professor Bob Michell, president of the RCVS, has warned that many rural veterinary practices could go bankrupt or merge with other practices because of the slump in the farming industry.
He said these practices had held their fees for some time but there was a limit to how long they could continue to do this.
