Weather increases concern
ISOLATED parcels of wheat has been combined in the Southwest as weather stops harvest. Owen Cligg, of Wessex Grain, says about 8% of the wheat area has been combined.
“Yield and quality have been variable, its a bit to early to say.” He expects lower Hagbergs over the next week. Yields have generally been better on lighter land.
One farmer at Tarrant Launceston has combined Gerald winter oats with a yield of 7.4t/ha (3t/acre). “This is the same yield as last year and they were good quality.”
