Weeton HF makes 10,000gns
AN ENTRY from John and Doreen Loftuss Weeton herd sold for 10,000gns at the Special Edition sale of Holstein Friesians last week.
Weeton also drew the next three highest bids of 9000gns, 7500gns and 6200gns at this sale hosted by David and Shiela Tomlinson at Bilsborrow, Preston.
Other consignments came from Bilsrowan, Carlhaven, Fordwich, Grantchester, Joylan – plus the host herd, Bilsrow. Overall, 120 lots averaged £2454.
Cheshire-based Beecroft Farms made the top call for Arbor Astra Joy, a second-calver classified Ex-92 while giving 63kg a day. She was sold with a contract for six embryos at £400 each.
Weeton Astre Anna, sold with an embryo contract for 10 eggs worth £5000, realised 9000gns to D R and D J Thomas for their Gatrog herd at Kidweldy, Dyfed. She is out of the 26,000gns Bricon Inspiration Annette.
The first choice of a heifer calf due from four pregnancies from the great white show cow Weeton Inspire Balise and sired by Fatal enticed a successful bid of 7500gns from John Jordan for his newly-formed Ecstasy herd in Worcestershire.
