Why do dog fleas like me so much?

Can anyone help me overcome fleas, which bite me badly.

I have tried everything over the years. This year it was Acclaim for bungalow and car and Advantage for the dog. That is OK until the dog or I go into another house or within flea-hopping distance of another dog.

I never see fleas on the dog, who does not scratch. I am the one that is bitten.

I find that neat Friars Balsam soothes the itch. So all August and September I am covered in brown patches.
