Woodlands application date put back
By FWi staff
THE deadline for applications to plant new woodlands in England has been postponed one month to 30 June, the Forestry Commission has announced.
The foot-and-mouth outbreak has meant that some people have been prevented from applying for new planting grants under the Woodland Grant Scheme this spring, says the Commission.
It is preparing guidance to allow foresters to start making site visits to woodlands and planting sites.
However if some visits are still impossible over the next two months, applications will be accepted, supported where necessary by telephone interviews.
The site will be visited later in the year, before the planting season starts.
