WTO considers next move
THE governing general council of the World Trade Organisation will consider its next step at a special session in Geneva this week.
This follows the failure of this months ministerial meeting in Seattle to launch a new round of trade liberalisation talks.
Negotiations on agriculture – already mandated – are in January, but have no timetable or agenda.
Mike Moore, WTO director-general, hopes to reconvene the Seattle meeting as soon as possible.
