THE Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster hosted an international seminar on farm diversification. Delegates from eight countries, including Estonia, Norway, Hungary and Switzerland, attended sessions at Greenmount College and visited some of Northern Irelands farm and rural community diversifications.
• A new communications network will link young farmers organisations in each of the EU member states to help promote and operate training and development initiatives carried out by PEJA (the European Exchange Programme for Young Agriculturalists).
• Lincolnshire YFC members had fun tackling an equine cross country course on foot and raised more than £1100 for Riding for the Disabled. The top team came from Market Rasen YFC and completed the course in 1min 34sec.
• Cambridge YFC has received an award from the National Lottery Charities Board to help fund a worker to start new clubs in villages.
• Penybont YFC won Radnor federations inter-club farm fencing competition and goes forward to the Wales finals.
