YOUNG FARMERS ROUND-UP

OXFORDSHIRE federation has been awarded £53,862 over a three-year period from the National Lottery Charities Board to set up five new junior clubs across the county and to employ a part-time qualified youth worker. The clubs for 10-16 year olds are to be set up in rural areas but their locations have yet to be determined.

&#8226 ALL 12 county federations took part in Wales YFC Festival of Sport at Brecon Leisure Centre. There were nine activities, ranging from football to cross country. Montgomery was the overall winner with a total of 19 points, Ceredigion second with 16, and Carmarthen third with 14.

&#8226 GWENT federations duck race, which involved 2000 yellow plastic ducks, raised £1200 towards funding the Wales YFC challenge weekend which the county is hosting this year.

&#8226 MAENDY YFC from Glamorgan was the top scoring club at Monouthshire Show, and Bedwas YFC, Gwent the runner up.

&#8226 EXETER and District YFC is planning a 50th anniversary dinner and dance which will take place at the Devon Hotel, Exeter on Nov 14. Tickets £16. Contact Richard (01626-891377).
