New equipment and advice at Tillage event

THE LATEST cultivation equipment and advice can be found at the two Tillage events in Gloucestershire and North Yorkshire next week (Sept 8 & 13).


The events will feature working demonstrations and static displays of cultivation equipment, as well as a series of seminars.


The proposed seminar programme is:



  • 10.30am and 1pm: Machinery costs for a new era – James Severn and George Cook, Andersons. Advice on cost control under the single farm payment scheme

  • 11am and 1.30pm: Climate and slug population forecasting – Jemma Willis, Rothamsted Research. Identifying the risks to profitable cropping in 2006

  • 11.30am and 2pm: Soil management and cross compliance – Richard Smith, Environment Agency and soil specialists, Alastair Leake and Simon Draper. The impact and practical guidance on putting soil management guidelines into practice

The two events take place at Bowldown Farms, Tetbury, Gloucestershire on Thursday, Sept 8 and Croft Circuit, near Darlington, North Yorkshire on Tuesday September 13.


Tillage is open from 8am to 3pm on both days and entry costs £10 per car or £5 for single occupancy.
