Wildlife boost from farmer workshops
Farmers can learn how to create wildlife corridors and manage habitat in a series of Glastir training workshops across Wales.
The on-farm events are intended for farmers interested in signing up to Wales’ new land management scheme.
Throughout August and September farmers can attend any of the 30 workshops and familiarise themselves with Glastir.
The Welsh Government says these events will prove valuable during the Glastir application process this winter and beyond. Officials from the Welsh Government will facilitate the sessions, which include habitat identification and management, wildlife and streamside corridor creation, arable options, field and woodland edge development and farm ponds.
Deputy minister for agriculture, Alun Davies, said the events would give a valuable insight into the practicalities of applying for the scheme and its benefits to farm businesses.
