93% clearance for Limousins at Dungannon

Limousins sold to a top price of 4800gns last weekend at Dungannon where a full ringside of buyers eager to buy bulls ensured 27 of the 29 bulls offered found new homes.

Leading the trade was July 2007-born bull, Pointhouse Cantona, which had stood reserve intermediate champion in the pre-sale show under judge Andrew Ewing, Dumfries. Bred by N Diamond, Garvagh, Londonderry, Cantona is by Carntogher Arnie and is out of Ronick Hawk-sired dam Seygorry Tanya. Carrying a beef value of +26, this one sold to E Hegarty, Blackhill, Coleraine.

Next best was a 4100gns bid for the show champion, August 2007-born Draperhill Colin from the Rodgers family. By French sire Soldat, who himself is by Nobel, and out of Hilden Lucinda, Colin sold to R Anderson, Richhill, Co Amagh.

Third top of 3700gns came when K Veitch’s Ballyrickard Christiano, bred by Ian Davidson, sold to join W Adams, Fivemiletown, Co Fermanagh. By Milbrook Vic and out of Ballyrickard Rachel, Christiano was born in June 2006 and picked up a red ticket in the pre-sale show.

The final bid above 3000gns came when F McAuley sold October 2007-born bull Carmorn CJ, a Rocky son out of Jockey daughter Carmorn Rose, to J Keatley, Magherafelt, Co Londonderry.

At 3000gns the Rodgers family sold another Soldat son, Moneynabane Callum, joined the Draperhill Colin, going home with Mr Anderson again.

Best price among the females on offer was a 2600gns sale for eight month old heifer Lenagh Dream from Mark Stewart. This one is by Glenrock Spartacus and is out of Cloughhead Lord-sired Lenagh Ascension and sold to K McCrory, Sixmilecross, Omagh, Co Tyrone.
