Scarborough farmers win Vicon sprayer in FW competition

Brothers Adrian (centre) and Will (left) Wright from East Binnington Farm, Scarborough, won the use of a 27m Vicon Ikarus trailed sprayer for a year in the recent Vicon/Farmers Weekly competition. Also in the picture is Vicon product manager Paul Bellas.

The family have farmed at East Binnington since the mid 1950s, growing arable crops and grass over 345 acres. They were in dairying until 1978 but now fatten cattle for Morrisons. They also do contract baling and loading work for local customers.

Winning the use of the sprayer was good timing, they say, as they have been looking to increase sprayer working widths from 21m up to 27m to speed up the job. The farm has been running a Horstine Farmery 21m trailed machine up until this year but they had purchased a second-hand Househam trailed machine to take over the spraying just two weeks before they were told they had won the competition.
