ScotGrass: Walrus slurry pump trailer offers high-output application
© MAG/Oliver Mark The latest Walrus engine driven pumping trailer from Northumberland outfit Wox Agri Services is loaded with kit to ease the burden of high-output slurry application.
Key components include a four- or six-cylinder Volvo power unit, Cornell, Bauer or Doda pump and a set of Orbinox pneumatically controlled valves.

There’s a hydraulically driven charge pump too, which quickly primes the main pump and keeps it well fed to reduce the risk of cavitation.
For efficient blowing out of pipework there’s a pto-driven 400cfm compressor and a sponge that can be launched on demand.
All functions on the machine can be controlled remotely, from a phone, tablet or computer, which avoids the need for an operator to stay with the unit all day.
Other features of note include a hydraulically operated 9.5m arm and a hydraulic drawbar that can be extended to make room for carrying reeler bobbins.
There’s also a Krohne flow meter for accurately keeping tabs on how much slurry is passing through the machine.
A hydraulic pressure washer is built in for efficient wash downs, and there are hydraulic jacks to improve stability.
The pictured example, packing a 240hp Volvo four-cylinder engine and Bauer SX4000 pump, will set you back about £200,000.
