Cunningham plans new MAFF image
AGRICULTURE minister Dr Jack Cunningham wants to give his ministry a new name – and improved status.
It will be elevated to the status of a government “department” as opposed to a ministry. Dr Cunningham claims that people prefer to deal with a department rather than a ministry, but the FTs Observer column claims that it has more to do with Dr Cunningham wanting to be a Secretary of State rather than a mere minister.
The BSE crisis has spurred the need for a relaunch.
