UK farmers are about to earn extra revenue worth millions of pounds thanks to British Food Fortnight which begins tomorrow (23 September), according to promotion organiser Alexia Robinson.

“For the fifth year running British Food Fortnight will place the focus on promoting the best of British food and drink and in the process add millions to agriculture’s balance sheet,” said Ms Robinson.

This year’s event aims to teach thousands of schoolchildren in England and Wales about the wide range of delicious, healthy and seasonal British food.

“Knowing how to cook nutritious, healthy food is an essential life skill, as important as leaning how to use a computer,” said Ms Robinson.

Hundreds of chefs and farmers have agreed to support the campaign by visiting local schools to talk about how to prepare top quality food and where it comes from.

So why not lend your support too? Simply cut out our British Food Fortnight poster supplied free on this week’s inside back cover and display it with pride. It’s a great way of signalling your support for great British food and drink.

British Food Fortnight is sponsored by Aramark, Budgens, Londis and Nationwide.
